details of current and past projects

Recent major projects driven or supported by ArtReach include:

• Developing the concept for Night of Festivals initially as a celebration of 200 years of Latin American independence and of the centenary of the Mexican Revolution. The project has been created in association with many partners, including a number of Latin American Embassies and culminates in Night of Festivals 2010 in Old Market Square Nottingham from 16-18 September this year.

• Work with MLA East Midlands and Renaissance from 2008 to develop seven ambitious, region-wide cultural projects for 2009-12. ArtReach has created project concepts and brands for The Lyric Lounge, 2009-12 Journals, Streetstyle/Sportstyle, empedia, Then and Now 1948, Migration Stories and 1948 Heritage Link. The first three projects were successfully initiated in 2009 and empedia and Migration Stories are now also being delivered.

• Developing the Business Plan and coordination for the East Midlands Stories of the World project, focusing on simultaneous 2012 exhibitions in Nottingham (On the Trail of Silk), Leicester (Suits and Saris) and Northampton (The World at Your Feet).

• Delivering Our Sporting Life as a region wide series of temporary exhibitions across the east Midlands and encompassing presentations at the Meridian Leisure Centre, Louth, East Midlands Airport, Nottingham Ice Arena and Curve.

• Working with a range of south-west partners (including County Councils, Unitary Authorities, arts and cultural organisations and artists) to support Desperate Men and Cirque Bijou in shaping an ambitious region-wide project (The Quest: Voyage 2012) to culminate at the opening ceremony in Weymouth and Portland on 27 July 2012.

• Producing and delivering the world’s largest interactive video artwork, Under Scan by Mexican/Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer (www.lozano-hemmer.com ), in Trafalgar Square for 10 nights in November 2008 (ArtReach originally commissioned the piece on behalf of East Midlands Development Agency).

• The Three Cities Create and Connect Festivals programme for Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, devised and delivered by ArtReach between 2004-2007 on behalf of the Three Cities Cultural Consortium

Between 1996 and 2001 ArtReach acted as Project Director for the development of Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, a new £10 million multi art form arts centre initiative. Input included vision development, fundraising, business planning, audience development, project management and programming.

From 1998 to 2000 ArtReach delivered successful capital lottery, RALP and Arts College Status bids for Saint Benedict School, Derby.

Since 2000 ArtReach has worked with The Peepul Centre, Leicester to deliver the project Arts Strategy and Development Plan, successfully securing Arts Council support toward this £16 million new cultural centre which opened in October 2005. It has also provided significant consultancy input to the development of the New Art Exchange project in Nottingham and to the development of Cornerstone in Didcot (South Oxfordshire).
