We’re thrilled to be working in partnership with Crewe Town Council on a new approach to the Christmas Lights Switch-On event for 2018. Led by ArtReach, the theme and title of the event is ‘Let It Glow’, intended to be exciting and accessible for children and families.
Not to be confused with a rather famous Disney film, ‘Let It Glow’ will bring thousands of audience members to Memorial Square on Friday 23 November. The event, which is due to run 5pm- 8pm, has been created especially with local families in mind and takes an artistic step forward from the usual Christmas countdown celebrations.
Audiences will be able to discover 6 different light installations around the town, giant puppets will be on hand to help enhance the magic of the celebrations and we’ll also offer the chance to join in several creative arts activities as people gather in Crewe town centre to celebrate Christmas.
For one night only Memorial Square will be lit by the magical glow of woodland creatures, giant flowers, luminous stars and ice drops, alongside a mesmerising large scale light projection. The projection will begin immediately after the Mayor’s countdown opening. ‘The Fox Lady’, one of the giant puppets, will be on hand to interact with and perform for the crowds interspersed with vibrant musical interludes.
David Hill, ArtReach Director said, ‘It’s great that in the current “austerity” climate a local Council has the courage and the vision to explore and invest in a new approach for Christmas Lights celebrations and we’re delighted to be invited to mastermind the event, and hope that the people of Crewe will really enjoy the special event that we offer.’
Naturally we’re all invited to celebrate the start of the Christmas period by joining together at Memorial Square on Friday 23 November, hopefully a year to remember.
Our team will be there with Christmas bells on!
