Journeys Festival programme released!

ArtReach, in its role as the East Midlands Coordinator for Platforma platforma.org.uk is pleased to announce the fantastic line-up of events that are now confirmed for the Festivals premiere presentation.

Using a special Festival Village Journeys Festival will encompass a cross section of different art-forms:

  • ·         Live acoustic and amplified music in and around the City Arts Dome
  • ·         Moving Image in the famous ArtReach Nanoplex
  • ·         Visual and digital arts on a bespoke mobile exhibition stand
  • ·         Street style performance, dance and spoken word.

The Festival will form part of Leicester’s City Festival and will play an integral role in promoting the people and places of the City.

All events are free access. No booking needed – simply come to the Festival, drop in to events and enjoy!

Sunday’s Highlights Include….

11:00am The Redeemed An exciting performance from a 10 piece Congolese band

12:00pm The Zimbabwe Association Choir Inspirational music sung from the heart

1:00pm Ngom A 5 piece Afro Beat, Dance and Reggae band

2:00pm & 3:30pmRomani Voice Traditional Roma Folk music and dance

02:30pm Afro-Kubanza African percussion ‘Jamming Session’ and performance

04.10pm Les Elus An exotic blend of Reggae, Rhythm and Blues

Monday’s Highlights Include…

11:00am Afro Mio Traditional African Rumba, Soukous, Kizomba and Salsa

11:40am & 3.30pm Journeys Inspired Storytelling Short pieces inspired from Refugees’ Journeys to Leicester

1:00pm Split/Mixed A short play written and performed by Rwandan Refugee Ery Nzaramba

1:30pm Arad Tamizi An Iranian artist performs with his Daf Drum

2:00pm Muha   A musical feast rooted in the Slavonic tradition but cultured from the World

3:00pm The Zimbabwe Association Choir Inspirational music sung from the heart

4:10pm Baran Traditional Iranian band with an original blend of Kurdish and Western music
