Light Up Leicester Audience Lab Volunteers

ArtReach is a charity and arts organisation that works across the country to deliver high-quality arts and heritage projects that are focused on making culture accessible. The organisation has a main base in Leicester, where it delivers a range of local activity that includes an annual refugee arts Festival.

Leicester City Council, BID Leicester and ArtReach are working in partnership to launch a brand new Festival for Leicester city in 2020, providing dazzling new opportunities for residents. Leicester’s first-ever light Festival, Light Up Leicester, will take place from 5 – 8 March 2020 across key sites in the city centre. Light Up Leicester is a trail of 7 light-based artworks that will be placed around the city centre for audiences to discover, play with and enjoy.

It is a Festival of ‘connectedness’ – encompassing interactive, playable and ‘connected to the internet’ artworks.

Visitors will also be able to experience Wave Field. This is a large outdoor artwork installed into Humberstone Gate consisting of 8 giant illuminated see-saws that respond with light and sound when put into motion. Alongside Wave Field audiences will be treated to an array of incredible illuminations from international artists. These world-renowned artists will be filling the streets of Leicester with visually stunning and interactive sculptures, digital displays and creating a night-time cultural hot-spot for all to enjoy. People exploring the city through these Light-nights will also be very excited to hear that Light Up Leicester will feature up to 5 new pieces that have never been seen before, anywhere in the world, bringing world-class culture to be unveiled in Leicester as part of this huge celebration for the city and its communities.

Audience Lab

Leicester City Council, ArtReach and BID Leicester are looking for local community members to join our Light Up Leicester Audience Lab. Our Audience Lab will be an inclusive, open space for local people to share and discuss.  You do not need to have any event or marketing experience to be a member of the Audience Lab. This is a chance for anyone to contribute to a city-wide celebration. We want your opinions on this new and exciting cultural event, with topics including:

  • Promotion
  • Audience feedback for marketing activities
  • Feedback on local perception of the Festival
  • Post-event feedback

What are the benefits for me as a volunteer?

  • The chance to meet new people.
  • Add your input into vital elements of the success of this project.
  • Special invites to the Light Up Leicester VIP event and tour of the Festival.
  • A chance to get behind the scenes of one of Leicester’s biggest events of the year.
  • An opportunity to meet the artists.
  • CV and skills enhancement with references.

Monthly meetings will take place on the following dates, from 6.00pm – 7.30pm:

  • 16 December 2019
