Journeys Festival International returned in 2017 to 3 UK cities as the first official “Festival of Sanctuary”, accredited by national charity City of Sanctuary.

Portsmouth 19 – 29 Oct

Journeys Festival International 2017 consisted of 38 days featuring 72 events between August and October celebrating the creative talents of exceptional refugee and asylum seeker artists, sharing the refugee experience through great art and culture. Magical performances, mesmerising discussion and powerful storytelling helped to create a positive dialogue about refugee and asylum seeker issues with public audiences in the three UK cities.

In total, the Festival showcased the work of over 200 UK and internationally based artists; Worked with 49 dedicated partner organisations; Supported 651 volunteers and participants and subsequently delighted audiences in 3 UK cities.

Look Up in Leicester presents Daniel Castro Garcia’s Migration into Europe

Look Up in Portsmouth presents Majid Dhana and Natalia Michalska’s United Tribe – a series of illustrated portraits of the local refugee and asylum seeker community.
