Project Description
In 2011 Night of Festivals delivery involved a special presentation of the ArtReach Nanoplex, with curated short film programme and accompanying, costumed carnival characters, at Nottingham Children’s Festival.
The ArtReach Nanoplex was unveiled in 2011 and one of its first appearances was in Old Market Square, Nottingham and Wollaton Hall on 28 and 29 May as part of Nottingham Children’s Festival. Working in partnership with City Arts the Night of Festivals: Box of Tricks project provided an opportunity to screen short films commissioned and curated by ArtReach as part of the celebrations to mark the 2010 Bicentenary of Latin American independence. Included in the programme were Nanoplex screenings of Michael Nyman’s Cine-Opera, a poignant exploration of a semi-derelict cinema in Mexico City with music from Nyman’s String Quartet no. 3.
