SeaChange Arts – Drill House

SeaChange Arts is the UK’s leading organisation for development of European partnership projects in the Circus and Street Arts sector (it is currently engaged in five major European partnership projects).

SeaChange Arts has freehold ownership of the former Drill House in Great Yarmouth and delivers the exception annual Out There Festival.

In autumn 2012 ArtReach led an intensive Feasibility Study to explore the potential for substantial development of the Drill House to create an international centre for Circus and Street Arts. Contracting Haworth Tompkins Architects (HTA), with specialist technical circus support, and cost consultancy from Bristow Johnson, ArtReach developed a detailed Design Brief, undertook wide stakeholder and community consultation, coordinated options appraisal, and developed a five year Business Plan for the proposed new facility. An inspiring design that will facilitate a full range of circus activity (and performance) has been developed by HTA and an application was constructed by ArtReach, working with SeaChange Arts, for submission to the Arts Council Capital Investment Fund. It is hoped the project will move forward to the next stage in summer 2014.
