ArtReach is pleased to announce its new, rather funny project – Bright Club – a stand-up comedy event with a twist – a professional compère; a professional headliner; and five or six university researchers!

Researchers are given (modest) training to make their research topic and their work comical! They then take the stage and perform their informative, yet funny material.

Currently there are successful Bright Clubs in London, Glasgow, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Guildford and Cardiff.

Leicester’s Universities have participated and contributed to Leicester’s comedy scene for years. This new show develops that established relationship and blurs the ever thinning line between lecture theatre and stage.

Leicester, with its dedicated comedy audience is the perfect place for a new Bright Club to be launched, and Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival offers the ideal platform for people to experience this emerging comedy concept!

There will be two shows over the Festival period;

Saturday 8th Feb: Headlined by Ahir Shah (‘Intellectualism and profanity’ – given 5 stars by Three Weeks, Edinburgh).

Saturday 22nd Feb: Headlined by Joel Dommett (Star of BBC3’s Impractical Jokers)

Both shows will be taking place in the City’s newest pub theatre – Upstairs at the Western. For tickets, information, and for announcements of researchers taking part please visit
