ArtReach introduces Angela Stienne, ArtReach Communications and Marketing Assistant in the Leicester office, in the latest instalment of ‘Get to Know ArtReach’.

Sum yourself up in three words…
Curious, Creative, Defiant

What do you do at ArtReach?
My Role is Communications and Marketing Assistant in the Leicester office. I am taking on the social media aspect of communication to expand the reach of our social media presence. I will also be working on newsletters, prints distribution and in-person communication. I’m here to make sure you don’t miss an event and to share all your pictures and stories online!

Why did you want to be part of the ArtReach team?
My background is in Museum Studies, and during my PhD I really connected with the power of social media and storytelling. I wanted to apply this to the creative industry and ArtReach is the ideal place to work on creative projects, storytelling and in a lovely area of Leicester.

Your favourite thing to do…
Museums, museums and museums! There are so many great museums to visit in the United Kingdom (I am yet to visit Liverpool!) I also run a participative project called Mummy Stories that takes quite a bit of my free time.

Who’s your hero?
As an Egyptologist, my hero is definitely Christiane Desroches Noblecourt (1913-2011). She was the first woman Egyptologist to run an archaeological dig in Egypt, the curator of the Egyptian department at the Louvre and she helped save the Nubian temples in Egypt!

Best thing about Leicester?
The independent coffee shops!

Plans for the future…
Turning my thesis into a book, learning how to make better PowerPoints and learning German! In the long term, I would like to work in academia and teach material culture and museum studies.
