ArtReach has been appointed by Essex County Council and partners to undertake a Feasibility Study to explore the potential for creating a new artist studios facility in Jaywick, near Clacton-on-Sea.

Jaywick, with a population of 5,000, is known for its golden sands, unusual seaside community (that has developed from an original “estate” of modest holiday homes), and for its exceptional Napoleonic Martello Tower (now a base for heritage exhibition and interpretation, and for a programme of arts and heritage activity).

Over the next two months ArtReach will be undertaking local consultation, assessing need and demand from the artist community in the county, and exploring potential sites/buildings that may have potential for conversion to artist studios. The Feasibility Study will culminate in a report with recommendations for developing the proposed project.
