The full scope of the SPECIAL EDITION Night of Festivals event in Leicester (2-11 October 2015) has now been announced. ArtReach is delighted to bring its key European partners to Leicester for this event.

It is taking place during the first stages of the Rugby World Cup, with three games being hosted at the King Power Stadium in the City. Night of Festivals will comprise intensive city centre  activity 2-4 October, with live music stage in Humberstone Gate (supported by a Big Screen at the Clock Tower), a Performance Tent in Jubilee Square, visual arts installations in three city centre sites, and an exciting programme of continuous carnival and samba linking the performance spaces.

In addition there will be Night of Festivals activity at the FanZone site in Victoria Park, including a special, lit Carnival finale procession and show on Saturday 3rd October prior to the England v Australia rugby game. Live carnival will be presented on the Stadium concourse prior to each rugby match at the King Power Stadium on 4th, 6th and 11th October.

Whilst retaining its underlying theme to celebrate the values of freedom and democracy, Night of Festivals will include artists and arts presentations that reflect the five countries whose teams will be playing rugby in the City  – Argentina, Romania, Namibia, Tonga and Canada. Highlights will include performances by the London Tango Orchestra, a Namibian Herero dance and music group, a carnival section inspired by Tongan festival traditions and a presentation of an extraordinary Romanian art installation.
